Spearfishing and underwater hunting impose unique optical and operational demands: concentrated lumens in a tight cone to penetrate turbid water and dark recesses; instantaneous brightness adjustment to avoid spooking prey; and positive mechanical or magnetic controls that function reliably with gloved hands in cold water.

XTAR’s spearfishing line is engineered around these constraints, serving three distinct user communities:

1. Recreational & Competitive Spearfishers Models DH1 1600 and DS1 1000 dominate this segment. The DH1’s 5° beam and 355m throw enable long-distance scanning of reef edges and kelp forests, while its mechanical lock eliminates the risk of accidental discharge during gear transitions. The DS1’s magnetic slide delivers 20–1000 lumen stepless dimming—critical when approaching fish in confined spaces where full brightness would trigger flight response.

2. Freediving Hunters The D06 1600 addresses the freediver’s imperative for minimal equipment volume and single-hand operability. Its slide control permits brightness adjustment without repositioning the grip, preserving hydrodynamic efficiency during deep breath-hold descents.

3. Commercial Aquaculture & Marine Harvesting Operators Boat owners, aquaculture leaseholders, and commercial fishing contractors employ XTAR lights for subsurface infrastructure inspection, net and cage maintenance, and controlled harvesting operations. The DH1’s extreme throw supports pre-dive surface scouting of mooring lines and cage perimeters from the deck, while the DS1’s dimming capability enables close-quarters work around stock without inducing stress responses in farmed species.
